Cultural
The North Harbour has a rich regional Aboriginal, South Sea Islander and European heritage.
The underlying principles of North Harbour have a strong focus on retaining and celebrating the site’s historical and cultural values.
A Cultural Heritage Management Plan has been generated to ensure that all culturally sensitive aspects of the site are protected and managed. An area has been set aside on the remains of a former farm and pine plantation to create a Heritage Park and Playground which will include a variety of activities and features including sculpture and heritage walk, picnic and play areas, walking and cycling trails and interpretive displays.
The Heritage Park provides a special place for the community to enjoy and celebrate the historical context of the site, stimulating social, cultural and heritage benefits for Caboolture and South East Queensland.
Northeast Business Park has been working proactively with the Heritage Branch of the Department of Environment and Resource Management on a proposal to formally recognise heritage values of the site in the Queensland Heritage Register. The nomination process has now been initiated which is anticipated to culminate in a recommendation to the Heritage Council that the site be added to the heritage register, ensuring protection of these features for future generations.
