CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON NORTH HARBOUR’S FIRST NEIGHBOURHOOD WITHIN THE PRIORITY DEVELOPMENT AREA

Construction is officially underway on the first residential neighbourhood within the North Harbour Priority Development Area (PDA), marking an exciting new chapter in our vision for a vibrant waterfront destination.

The milestone was celebrated with a sod-turning ceremony on July 28, attended by Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie, Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan, and Urban Development Institute of Australia Queensland CEO Kirsty Chessher-Brown, as well as project partners and stakeholders.

The ceremony marked the commencement of civil works for the first 249 standard homesites, less than 12 months after the Queensland Government declared North Harbour a Priority Development Area.

Delivered by SEE Civil, the precinct is now taking shape, with the first homes due for release in 2027 and the first residents moving at the end of 2027 to early 2028.

This is the first of a series of neighbourhoods planned within the PDA, which will ultimately deliver at least 3,700 homes alongside a future marina, waterfront dining and retail precinct, tourism attractions, recreational facilities and community infrastructure.

Designed to broaden housing choice, the release will introduce terraces and detached homes, while future neighbourhoods will include villas, detached houses and apartments, creating a diverse range of homes for people at every stage of life.

North Harbour Project Director Bryan Finney said the sod turn represented a defining milestone in bringing the long-term vision for North Harbour to life.

“Today’s sod turning marks an exciting milestone as we commence construction of the first neighbourhood within the Priority Development Area,” he said.

“It is the beginning of the next chapter for North Harbour and the first step in delivering a vibrant waterfront destination where people can live, work, visit and enjoy everything this unique riverside location has to offer.

“Over time, this will become part of a thriving mixed-use waterfront community featuring new homes, a marina, retail, hospitality, recreation and tourism, creating an exciting new destination for the City of Moreton Bay.”

The broader waterfront expansion is expected to generate almost 2,000 local jobs and contribute an estimated $456 million to the regional economy, supporting long-term growth for the Moreton Bay region.

As construction progresses, North Harbour continues to evolve into a connected waterfront community where exceptional lifestyle, open spaces and future amenities come together in one of southeast Queensland’s most significant masterplanned developments.
