Christmas is on the horizon and do we have some awesome events lined up for you! In case you’re not a fan of rhetorical questions – yes, we do and they’re FREE.

Yesterday we kicked off our end of year celebrations and welcomed the Nova FM team for their first outside broadcast from North Harbour. Thank you to everyone who made it and well done to everyone who won prizes! It was excellent to see so many happy faces at the Display Village, we do love a big event at North Harbour.

Which brings me to our next one…The Ja Joint Bus! What’s a Ja Joint Bus? Well, it’s a Jamaican themed 1950’s London Double Decker Food Bus which will be setting up in the Display Village on Sunday 27th November to bring you an afternoon of soul and spice and all things nice! The food is cooked in award winning Jamaican spices and sauces in two 65-gallon drum smokers, “low n slow taking it back to tribal days”.

The Ja Joint story starts in St Ann, Jamaica, where the founder Carly Day’s family worked as commercial growers and farmers in the early 1920’s. Ja Joint is about connecting cultures through food and giving Australians amazing quality Jamaican products, handcrafted in Australia.

The bus itself is also equipped with a sound system and the Ja Joint team will be bringing their awesome music and entertainment skills to the event. We hope to see you there:

Next on the agenda is North Harbour’s inaugural Movies in the Village Park event on Saturday December 10th. We’ll be showing the classic “A Muppet Christmas Carol” at 7:30pm with the event kicking off at 6:30pm with some Christmas presents for the kids. BYO picnic, blankets, chairs and Christmas spirit

While we’re talking Christmas – it’s our first at North Harbour! Now home to over 100 families there will be a lot of brand new kitchens and BBQs firing up to create the first family Christmas dinner at North Harbour. As you know, each home at North Harbour has access to reticulated gas for indoor and outdoor cooking so it’s time to get the creative juices flowing with the perfect Christmas menu to match your perfect new home.

There are heaps of places to get inspiration from, we’ve chosen a few favourites below:

Donna Hay: Aussie girl Donna always hits it out the park at Christmas with her decorating ideas and table pieces. This year we’ll be trying her Apple and Herb Brined Turkey with Rosemary Gravy. Mmmmmmm.

Jamie Oliver: A British import, Jamie has set his sights on Australia in the last few years and has partnered with Woolworths to make his mark on easy, nutritious dinners. His Stuffing Meatballs Wrapped in Prosciutto should go down a treat.

Delia Smith: If you’re going all out this Christmas then look no further than Delia’s recipe for Perfect Roast Spuds. Guaranteed to be the crunchiest, tastiest roast potatoes you’ve ever had, this recipe elevates a great meal into the award-winning category.
