Hey there, sports fans! In this week’s North Harbour Blog we’re going to dive into the plethora of sport related community groups we’re fortunate enough to have in our active region.

Balls

A big part of North Harbour’s commitment to liveability for our residents is providing plenty of recreational options in our beautiful community. One of these options will be our proposed sporting complex which will have playing fields as well as space for associated supporting activities such as clubhouses with facilities for making and selling food, storage space and meeting areas.

In preparation for creating this sporting community hub we’re getting involved with as many of our local sporting groups as possible, lending financial support and promotional help as required. As our Project Director, Peter Lightbody, says: “Local community recreational programs align extremely well with the values and vision of the North Harbour community.

North Harbour boasts over 1,000 acres of recreational space in our master plan, which includes parkland, children’s playgrounds, exercise equipment, canoe launching platforms, walking tracks, bicycle tracks and of course both our proposed Heritage Precinct and Sporting Complex.”

Our first community partnerships began at the start of the year through Caboolture Sports Club. North Harbour is the 2017 sponsor of Caboolture Touch Association (one of Caboolture Sports Club’s foundation Clubs), which has 36 junior and 90 senior teams ranging from U8s to Open. There is a team to suit almost everyone: Junior, Senior Mixed, Senior Mens, Senior Womens, Over 40s Mens, Elite Super Series Mens, and Elite Super Series Womens. Head to http://www.caboolturetouch.com/ for more info.

We’re also sponsoring two more of Caboolture Sports Club’s foundation Clubs; Caboolture Soccer Club and Caboolture Sports Dog Obedience Club. Caboolture Soccer Club boasts nine floodlit fields, three of which are full sized, and one of which has competition standard lighting; and has 51 teams for male and female juniors and seniors across most divisions in the Brisbane competition zone. For more information head to www.caboolturefc.com.au.

The Caboolture Sports Dog Obedience Club’s aim is to provide dog obedience training services for the Caboolture, Pine Rivers and Redcliffe areas. The Caboolture Sports Dog Obedience Club is at present one of the most successful Clubs in the South-East Queensland region in formal Obedience and Agility Trials. Check them out at http://www.caboolturedogobedience.com.au.

North Harbour also sponsors Moreton Bay Lions AFSC. The Lions’ state of the art AFL Precinct is located under five minutes from North Harbour, in the Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex and has been described by AFL Chairman, Mike Fitzpatrick as having “the best community sporting facilities in Australia”. The Club has Senior, Women’s and Youth/ Junior teams with plenty of on and off the field fun to be had. Visit http://moretonbaylions.com.au/ to find out more.

Spreading our sports wings, we recently partnered with Little Athletics Deception Bay. Little Athletics is a family activity, in which children from the age of 5 to 16 learn the basic athletic skills of running, jumping and throwing. Little Athletics is a fun activity in which all children, regardless of ability, are encouraged to improve their own personal performances. More information is available at http://deceptionbayla.asn.au/.
